Procedures for issuing certificates
Exam certificates will be issued to your school or college within 12 weeks of the publication of results. They will then decide on the most appropriate way to distribute to their students.
If you have not received your exam certificate, please contact your school or college in the first instance. But please note that they are only obliged to retain unclaimed certificates for one year from the date of issue.
Replacement Certificates
Please contact your school or college with queries or for advice relating to certificates issued within the 12-month period.
Changes to your personal details:
Please return your certificate to your school or college within 12 months of the date of issue of results. Your school or college will return the certificate to us and a new original certificate will be issued.
If you have not returned your certificate to your school or college within the 12-month period of the date of issue, please email replacementcertificates@wjec.co.uk.
Change of grade following an enquiry about a result:
Please return the certificate to your school or college within 12 months of the date of issue of results. Your school or college must return the certificate to us, and a new original certificate will be issued free of charge.

Confirmation of Results: Electronic Letter of Confirmation
Confirmation of qualifications is currently provided in the form of an Electronic Letter of Confirmation which is accepted by most Universities/Colleges and employers in the UK and overseas. It contains the same information as the Certifying Statement of Results (Replacement Certificate) but is in letter format with our logos and signed by our Director of Assessment Delivery. This can be emailed to yourself and/or directly to a third party (e.g. University/College/Employer) of your choice from our email address ensuring quicker provision.
Before you apply, please check that this service meets your requirements and that of the organisation requesting confirmation of your qualifications. If you require printed copy of Certifying Statement of Results (Replacement Certificate) instead of the Electronic Letter of Confirmation, please confirm this request via replacementcertificates@wjec.co.uk.
We appreciate your application is urgent, for this reason all applications are processed in strict date order. Please allow 6 weeks to process your application form, although every effort will be made to process as quickly as possible.
Before you complete our Application Form – it’s important that you read all the relevant information in this section first.
- You must complete the form. A third party cannot apply on your behalf.
- The application form must be forwarded to WJEC as an attachment not embodied within the email.
- ID must be attached.
- WJEC will notify you of the payment details which must be made by BACS/Bank Transfer.
- Make a copy/save what you have sent and received.
Cancellations and Refunds
If you need to cancel your application, please let us know by email. If you have already presented your payment details to your bank, we can only give you a full refund if we receive written notice within five days, and after we have received your payment. We cannot issue a refund after this time, as the cost covers the administration work once your application has been received.
We may cancel your application for the following reason:
- You have not responded to our query within seven working days.
- The fee is incorrect.
- Qualification information is insufficient to search our records.
- We have not received the appropriate ID.
If your application is cancelled and a certificate is needed at a later date, a new application must be made.
